Hipstamatic Debuts the Lowy Lens
Last week Hipstamatic released its Photojournalism SnapPak, including a ‘lens’ designed in collaboration with Reportage photographer Benjamin Lowy. Ben was among the first professional photographers to use cell-phone cameras to tell stories from conflict zones and, later, in his own backyard. When Hurricane Sandy hit New York last year, Time magazine put Ben on assignment with four other photographers to document Sandy’s arrival and publish directly to Time’s social media channels. The above image, made using an iPhone and a beta version of Hipstamatic’s Lowy Lens, became the first individual mobile photo to make the cover of Time magazine.
Read more about Ben’s work in an interview on Hipstamatic’s blog.
