    World Press Photo Winners Announced

    Congratulations to the winners of this year’s World Press Photo awards, including two Reportage photographers, Brent Stirton and Sara Naomi Lewkowicz. Brent’s image of blind albino boys in India, above, won first place in the staged portraits category. Sara’s photoessay on domestic violence received first place in the contemporary issues category.

    Aidan Sullivan, the head of the Reportage division, adds: “Such great news to see our photographers being recognized yet again in the World Press Photo competition. It is paramount that these important bodies of work and the photographers that create them , often under incredibly difficult circumstances , are given the accolades and the global spotlight they deserve.”

    Three Getty Images staff photographers were also recognized:

    Chris McGrath: 1st Place, General News Story - Typhoon Haiyan
    Ezra Shaw: 2nd Place, Sports Action Story - America’s Cup
    Al Bello: 3rd Place, Sports Action Single - U.S. Open
    Quinn Rooney: 3rd Place, Sports Action Story - Australian Swimming Championship
